For some autistic people, leaving the house isn't about anxiety or not wanting to socialise. Sometimes, they simply need a reason to go out. After discovering I was autistic at 30, I began to understand why my own experience of counselling hadn't worked for me. That experience ultimately inspired me to become the counsellor I wish I had met, someone who listens without judgement, understands neurodiversity and adapts therapy to the person, rather than expecting the person to fit the therapy. Today, I use my own experiences to help others feel understood, accepted and able to be themselves.
